In 2005, BBVA Bancomer, the largest financial institution in Mexico, engaged JLL to conduct an analysis of the company’s Mexico City office space. At the time, the company’s 7,500 employees were dispersed across 1.6 million square feet of space in seven properties around the city. BBVA Bancomer knew there was a better solution, and JLL found it: the consolidation of all seven corporate buildings into two properties in Mexico City, one in the city’s most prominent business center and the other in one of the most vibrant submarkets. Once the relocation was completed, BBVA Bancomer sought JLL’s partnership to manage the sale of the company’s 130,000-square-foot real estate portfolio. In addition, they asked JLL to manage the Corporate Office and Data Center Projects, which included the 190,000-square-foot BBVA Bancomer Tower (the tallest building in the country), the 150,000-square-foot BBVA Operations Center, a call enter, two training centers and the renewal of 1,775 bank branches located throughout Mexico. More than a decade after the initial consolidation, JLL continues to be BBVA Bancomer’s real estate partner.
