Challenge

HSBC is an international renowned bank with an ongoing commitment to sustainability and a desire to be a leader in this area. The HSBC HQ was the first building certified under LEED EB:OM Platinum in LAM with the highest score for any LEED Certified projects in Mexico, HSBC turned to Jones Lang LaSalle to manage the project. Additionally, HSBC decided to pursue LEED EB Certification as an affirmation of their commitment to sustainability and green efforts and to be a true pioneer in Latin America as this is one of the first/biggest LEED Platinum building in Mexico. JLL had the necessary expertise to lead HSBC through the certification process with an aggressive timeline of 8 months.

Solution

HSBC desired to LEED EB certify their office space while maintaining a tight budget, and extremely fast timeline. Since JLL is the facility manager at this facility for HSBC, they had the added benefit of knowing the building intimately which made the process more seamless.  In addition, JLL established a creative team structure putting two team members on two sets of credit categories i.e. one team of two had the SS and MR credits; another team of two tackled the WE and IEQ credits, and the last one had EA and IO credits.  This proved to be very effective and the only way to accomplish the desired timeline.
